EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: The God Awful Truth – “The Granny Killer”
There’s something to be said about the sheer diversity of the budding extreme music scenes springing up around Texas’ major cities. Apart from the obvious festivities of Austin’s SXSW (which is all but a memory now), Dallas and the surrounding area is also home to a growing number of technical and noisy metal / hardcore bands that is starting to rival Baltimore, each more impressive than the last, with bands like Pillar of Wasps and the solo project, The Sound That Ends Creation, both pushing serious boundaries with their respective latest efforts.
Denton mathcore trio, The God Awful Truth, are another such band, and today we have the pleasure of bringing you an exclusive premiere of their new music video for “The Granny Killer.” The song immediately sucks you in with the snare clicks and its earwig main motif, which gives way to the band’s signature combination of off-kilter grooves interspersed with breakneck staccato flurries, dissonant guitar lines, and absolutely crushing breakdowns. Fans of The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Tony Tapdance Extravaganza, and Frontierer should certainly appreciate the sheer aggression and technical intensity of their debut full-length album, “Memory Palace,” which drops October 23rd and is available now for preorder via Dark Trail Records.
