Codex of the Gods are a duo out of Washington, DC, playing chaotic, dissonant, and groove-based progressive metalcore and mathcore, and today we have the pleasure of bringing you an exclusive early stream of their new untitled EP. Although “untitled” is a title possibly lacking in imagination, the music certainly is not, as Codex of the Cods deliver a fairly cohesive 4 song effort.
Utilizing the tried and true method of adding gross half-step harmony guitar runs in between extended range, low end chugs, the band recalls the likes of The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, Frontierer, and Ion Dissonance, while also adding just a touch of atmospheric synths for that extra layer of menace. Although currently just a recording project, Codex of the Gods have put together 4 tracks of home-brewed material with “untitled” that serve as a promising mission statement for a young group who already seem to possess some awareness of album flow.
“untitled” drops May 28th on Bandcamp
